Delicious finishing drizzle!

This is just a little mixture that takes minutes and lasts for days in a jar on the counter.  I use it to drizzle on grilled vegetables, chicken, steaks, pork, or lamb chops.

I have a little herb garden.  It's planted in various pots and sits on an old wire glider on my back deck.  My father "found" the glider on someone's curb and I really don't trust it to hold anyone.  So, herb garden it has become.

The "sauce" is simple.

Bean Salad

Many, many years ago I had the pure pleasure of eating my first three bean salad.  A friend of mine's mother was visiting from St. Louis, Missouri and we had a picnic.  She made her three bean salad!  It was delicious!  And from then on, I have loved that sweet treat!  But, given my new lifestyle, no more sweet bean salad.

At the farmer's market the first week of July

The morning of the 4th of July was absolutely gorgeous here.  The air was cool and comfortable.  The sun was shining.  And it was pretty quiet around.  Here in Southern NJ, many people head to the shore on the weekend.  Especially holiday weekends.

Summer Salad

My mother made this salad all my llfe and I, in turn, make it for my family.  My youngest daughter has always liked it best and it is she who named it "Summer Salad".  (She's not a big lettuce fan.)

This salad is, of course, best with the freshest ingredients.  It is absolutely heavenly made with a green onion, cucumbers, and tomatoes warm from the garden.

Birthday cake!

Today is my oldest daughter's birthday!  25 years ago, on a very hot and humid Saturday morning, my first born arrived very quietly (she sounded like a kitten) with eyes wide open.  Seven weeks early!  And now she's all grown up and working as a critical care nurse in a big city hospital.  So we have to have CAKE!
