Husband took the stroll with me this week. He even pulled the wagon! We arrived early (a few minutes before the official opening time), met Younger Daughter there, and strolled the length of the market. By the time we finished, just forty-five minutes later, the place was very crowded. There were the regular contingent of people with coffee and puppies and kids who were there to be seen and buy cut flowers...but there are increasingly more people actually buying the fresh produce. Younger Daughter lives in her own apartment now and has commented that it surely keeps the grocery bill down when you buy fruits and vegetables at the market. I mean, summer squashes are two for a dollar!
This week there was a variety of new choices. It was probably the last we'll see of strawberries and asparagus. I like to eat the season so, while I was desperate for strawberries and asparagus, I'm ready to move on.
So, along with the lettuces (no spinach) and last of the strawberries and asparagus, this week's haul included spring broccoli.

...yellow beans and green beans (we're promised purple beans for next week!)...

...spring carrots (at husband's request)...

And there are plenty of new fruit choices to replace those sadly missed strawberries... like raspberries...

....red cherries....

...white cherries....

....and Husband's favorite....blueberries!

But the best find of the day was TOMATOES!

Real live, field grown full size and grape...red and yellow....JERSEY FRESH tomatoes! And they are DELICIOUS!
